THE secret of Marilyn Monroe’s famous curves is finally out after the bra that gave her bust a boost came to light — and showed THREE cunning tricks which set mens’ hearts racing.
The lacy lingerie worn by the legendary Hollywood siren acted like a 1950’s version of the Wonderbra and enhanced her 36D cleavage to eye-popping new levels.
First the heavy duty bra had reinforced extra straps running in a triangle from the centre of the bra over Marilyn’s shoulders lifting it similar to how a suspension bridge works.
Second it had underwired half cups inserted to lift the film stars breasts into an impressive cleavage.
And thirdly it had an extra pair of outer cups secretly added on the outside which stuck out an INCH to give the impression that her boobs were much bigger than they were.
Marilyn was most famous for her curvy figure with estimates of her vital statistics settling on 37-23-36 and a 1950s size 16.
Cleavage
The voluptuous actress made her name with a host of modelling shots highlighting her captivating cleavage that made her the envy of all the other Hollywood starlets at the time.
It rocketed her to fame in films like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Some Like It Hot.
The cream and ivory coloured bra and a pair of designer silk stockings from her own wardrobe are being auctioned in the UK after being unearthed in the US after 50 years.
And bra experts who examined the lingerie revealed how the early Wonderbra gave her natural assets a helping hand.
Edged with cream velvet piping, the lace bra is sculpted in the cone style of the 1950s.
It may even have been worn under her iconic white dress, most famously pictured blowing up around her waist above a hot air vent, in the iconic film the Seven Year Itch.
Richard Davie, from International Autograph Auctions, said: “Marilyn is an icon of the 20th century and very much loved by many people – not least for her marvellous cleavage.
“The bra looks very complicated at first glance and it actually has four cups inside it – sort of like an early Wonderbra – with an inner cup which is almost hidden to support her as normal.
“But then there’s an another larger cup about an inch further out to give the impression she had a bigger chest.”
The lingerie is expected to fetch £2,000 when it goes up for auction alongside a pair of sheer Christian Dior silk stockings in size 9M which are marked “Diorella”.
The stockings alone are expected to fetch £1,200 at the auction on July 18 at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Heathrow.
